News and Upcoming Events:
UNBOUND is a non-profit international Catholic Mission assistance organization which works with the poor, especially needy children and elderly, in over 20 developing countries. Founded by Catholic lay people, UNBOUND aims to mobilize help and support for the poor, promoting understanding and care on an international level. UNBOUND’s main activity is its sponsorship program whereby a child or elderly person at a Catholic mission site is linked with a sponsor who cares about them. A sponsor helps provide much-needed nourishing food, medical/dental care, and the chance for a child to go to school and much more - all directed at affirming the individual as our brother or sister in Christ.
Holy Family parishioners, Earl and Margo Hagen, have sponsored several children through UNBOUND (CFCA) Some children have dropped out of the program for a various reasons. The Hagens currently are sponsoring three children and one adult. Warner P’erez (5), Litzi Alpizar (4), Aynni S’anchez (6) and Blanca Rosa Fernandez (70). All four live in Costa Rica. Former sponsored children who have since dropped from the program were from Mexico, Guatemala and Nicaragua.
An interesting story emerged with Blanca Rosa. Her sponsorship began in 2006. She was a depressed and physically battered 62-year-old woman who lived with her daughter. Her husband was an abusive alcoholic living near. Since being sponsored, she has uplifted her life, convinced her husband to become alcohol free, and now both attend Mass weekly. This has to be the success story of the year!

God is doing good things for us, even in the midst of uncertainty and difficulties. We know that God wants to do great things for us and through us as a parish, because he tells us this (Jn 15:1-11). This evening is a part of that work. Jesus stands at the door and knocks (Rev. 3:20). Will you open the door to your heart and invite him in, so he can transform your life with his presence and love, so you might reign with Him? Come!
